Coursing Colorado Coyotes

I have been angling to join my friend on a coyote hunt for years. While hunting pronghorn this weekend the stars aligned and we hit the fields with his amazing pack of hounds + ONE for a day of running dogs.

Porq'y Got the Better of "Red"

Sans Quills

"Andy"
I never expected that this Lab/Shepard mix would be such a dog killing machine. He picked up the art from his ranch buddies and damn near exceeds their abilities. See the vid at bottom.

Karelian Bear Dog

You Guys Are Mouge.

Saluki - Royal Dog of Egypt

While the rest of the world contemplates the lunacy in Egypt and its current dilemma the goings on sparked a memory from my travels. Years ago while side winding through SE Asia, my brother and I met a Middle Eastern chap that opened his home to us on the coast of Cambodia. He was a surgeon specializing in limb replacement and prosthetics...go figure. His hobby back home was coursing game with Saluki's. Being a dog man I quickly gleaned as much info as I could about this unique breed.

Considered to be one of the oldest breeds in history and capable of coursing a Gazelle these sight hounds exude grace and symmetry beyond description. As I mentioned before The Pack requires purpose of its members. This one has it. Not too mention stunning beauty.

Lagotto Romagnolo - Truffle Dog

My pack is heavy on security and the ability to assist in providing food for the table. The Lagotto Romagnolo is a unique breed in that it shares the rarefied air of only a few breeds that excel in finding truffle's. Their rugged looks and utilitarian capability make this breed a welcome member of my pack.

In November a London restaurant paid $52,000 for a 2.4 pound white truffle. The investment potential these dogs have is reason enough to expand the kennel.

Australian Cattle Dog

Alert, intelligent and courageous. Perfect for the pack.

Tibetan Mastiff

The pack has a consistency in that all of the dogs have a function. This critter's function is protection. I also find the Tibetan Mastiff to be very regal, a must have.

Komondor

Clearly rugged. One for my pack.

Duck Dog - Chessie

Loyal and tough only begin to describe this breed. I have had one and will have another.

German Wirehaired Pointer

If ever there was a sporting dog that could be compared to a Land Rover..this is it. Rugged, relentless, smart and driven. This unique breed is suited for hunting all birds on wing as well as some big game and blood tracking. I have owned a lot of sporting dogs. These are my favorite.

Airhead

The King of the Terriers. Having lived with one once I know the joys of owning this rugged yet regal breed. His sense of flair coupled with a significant ability to protect what's his makes this friend of man a tool as well as trusted companion.
