Colorado Sage Grouse - 2014
Among the most coveted, upland hunts in Colorado is the Sage Grouse. With a limited two day season and a limited possession (2 birds) wingshooters with a hankering for a trophy are always on the hunt for this species. I finally got mine this weekend.
Bitchin' Farm House on the Prairie
Not much in the way of Cogburn's anywhere this season but that doesn't mean the chase ends or the dogs quit working. This weekend had us in Eastern, Colorado. And just like before the birds were thin. The farm house we stayed in on the other hand was off the hook.

The Beauty and Grace of Pheasants - Wyoming 2013
The Midwest has seen a dramatic drop in Pheasant populations. Drought, severe weather, loss of habitat..you name it. After passing on Nebraska, SD and Colorado I thought a jaunt up north would be worth trying. Birds are slim here as well. Good thing there is other shit to do.

What's in Your Beard? - Mo Duckin' Part II
I marvel at the tenacity exhibited by my wirehair pointer when hunting waterfowl. I was actually more in awe of his character today than I was at the rafts of ducks just yards out of reach of my trusty, SBE. He was made to lay in rising water, in a dog blind, beard, balls and boots full of cockle-burrs. For three hours he did not flinch. I could, however here his teeth chattering in the quiet, dark morn. Well done dog.
