Bitchin' Farm House on the Prairie

Not much in the way of Cogburn's anywhere this season but that doesn't mean the chase ends or the dogs quit working. This weekend had us in Eastern, Colorado. And just like before the birds were thin. The farm house we stayed in on the other hand was off the hook.

The Midwest has seen a dramatic drop in Pheasant populations. Drought, severe weather, loss of habitat..you name it. After passing on Nebraska, SD and Colorado I thought a jaunt up north would be worth trying. Birds are slim here as well. Good thing there is other shit to do.

I detest hunting at bird preserves. First of all paying for birds. Secondly, having to (damn near) kick em' to make em' fly. Lastly, lame chit-chat with other guys that think they are hunting. However, the little man wanted to go hunting with me and I knew that a four hour drive east in search of wild, ditch dragons would only cause us both brain damage...hence the pet & shoot. He loved it.
