Topo Designs - Colorado Homegrown

It's always a treat when good design and proper kit happen to reside in your own backyard. While scanning A Continuous Lean (a daily ritual) I came across Topo Designs, a moon ripened, boutique shop that make bags that really hit a nerve. Low and behold they make em right here in Colorado and just minutes from where I lay my head. I got in touch with Mark, one of the owners and told him I needed a set of the accessory bags asap for my jaunt to Moz. One day later I was in the shop and grazing the goods with said owner.

Topo Accessory Bags

Travelers know that keeping mind of the little things like power adapters, cords, meds, and all the crap that can get easily lost amidst the big stuff is very important. Immediately I knew this was a solution and a well designed one at that. Of course for the hunter, I went for the obvious color choice. Not only is the product cool but the guys making them as well. I like to see Colorado people succeed and will be back for more stuff when I return. American Made Bro!

Pelican 1200 - Important Travel Kit

Quite possibly the toughest, watertight, equipment protectors around. I borrowed one last year for  safari and housed my sat phone, camera, reading glasses, cigarette holder and the tchotchke's my family gave me to think of them. These cases are priceless when your in the soup and need your prized stuff protected. Mine just showed up today. Mozambique 2012..just around the bend.

Filson - Outfitter Bag

This baby turned out to be everything I expected and more. I picked it up for the safari but quickly found that this bag will probably join me on every other hunt as well. Two way brass zippers, roomy main compartment and impervious to liquids. I had blood all over this bag from traveling in the cruiser and not a drop on the stuff inside. Beauty.

Saddleback Bags

The closest a guy can come to the pleasures a woman gets when buying handbags..is luggage. I take real pleasure in having good luggage. A few weeks before heading to safari I traded a well worn J.W. Hulme briefcase for this XL Saddleback Bag. For two weeks it rode around in the bush protecting my camera, cigarette's, passport and other sundry items. Looks good, wears better and tough as nails. I can't believe these babies aren't seen swingin' around in more Land Cruisers. Perfect and simple.

The Darjeeling Limited Luggage

Hand painted animals by Wes Anderson's brother. The ultimate set of luggage hands down.

J.W. Hulme Co.

Simple. Durable. Timeless.
Guaranteed for life and made by the banks of the Mississippi River in St. Paul Minnesota.

Mulholland Bros Safari Bag

I purchased one a few years back after finally breaking down and assuming the position...these babies are pricey! But, it is one of the finest pieces of luggage I have owned. This heirloom deserves it own seat on the plane, train or vintage 911.
