The Sausage Underground - Reprise - 2015

I don't really consider the New Year to have begun until the invite is made for me to join the Sons of Sopressata for the annual meeting of The Sausage Underground. Steeped in tradition, fueled by male discourse and booze this is one event I rarely pass on. This year #800 lbs of sublime Sopressata was made…hopefully it lasts until next year.

My wife either has exquisite taste as it regards my choice for odd reading materials or she has something in mind. Either way, I win. A new book arrived for my Bday.

Gavin McInnes - The Death Of Cool

I started following this chap's writing about a year ago and can't get enough of him. If you are a male, born in the late 60's or early 70"s this cat (and book below) is a must read. You can find him on takimag.com frequently.

"That's the thing about being male: You quickly forget the times you were victorious. It's the times you pussied out that stick in your craw forever."

Bitchin' Farm House on the Prairie

Not much in the way of Cogburn's anywhere this season but that doesn't mean the chase ends or the dogs quit working. This weekend had us in Eastern, Colorado. And just like before the birds were thin. The farm house we stayed in on the other hand was off the hook.

El Toro - Denver - First Rate Fried Tacos

Taco shops are dime a dozen in Denver but my search is over for the finest taco. El Toro on North , Colorado Blvd takes the vuelta. The building, nondescript if not gnarly. The atmosphere, quintessential down to the stained menus. The art, a myriad of chintzy sorts including a nice collection of black velvet, bullfight scenes. The taco, nonpareil. I really don't need to go anywhere else in this town for a taco.

The Beauty and Grace of Pheasants - Wyoming 2013

The Midwest has seen a dramatic drop in Pheasant populations. Drought, severe weather, loss of habitat..you name it. After passing on Nebraska, SD and Colorado I thought a jaunt up north would be worth trying. Birds are slim here as well. Good thing there is other shit to do.
