In 1984 Sandy Alexander (Hells Angel N.Y.C.) wrote the only club endorsed movie about the MC. The movie was pitched with little fanfare and never made it to the big screen. Since then copies have been made and small viewings have occurred. Last night the Hells Angels, Denver had a fundraising event which involved the first public, screening of the movie on a big screen at the Oriental Theatre.
The MC has a very rich history which few people know about or get a chance to learn about. Last nights viewing was a great way to learn about the clubs perspective on themselves through the movie and also a chance to sit with members old and young in the Colorado area that were friends and brothers with some of the cast.
Vinny D'Onofrio might have gotten blasted by the press for his first directorial, debut but me and my buddies think otherwise. Grab a jbird and a bottle of wine. "Je'taime, Je'taime." Don't Go In The Woods.
This flik falls into the same vein as Hatari (see previous post) and is just as entertaining. Filmed on location in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa it is chock full of vintage'y style game scenes, land rovers and the prerequisite hot bird (Shirley Eaton.) I highly suggest this little number for a lazy afternoon just prior to leaving for your next safari. Robert Culp of "The Greatest American Hero" fame plays a zoologist trying to save the White Rhino from an unscrupulous hunter...Sound familiar. Cheezy but rad. Thanks Mom.
Last night the kids and I were little bored so I dialed up a dvr cashed version of one of my all time favorite movies, Godzilla vs Mothra Battle for Earth, 1992. This is the 19th Godzilla in a franchise of 28 movies and though Zilla is obviously the star of this show for some reason the kids and I were most amused with the twin fairies (The Peanuts) that try and assist the tragic heroes in understanding Mothra's need to help the humans. This flick was green, sustainable and LEED certified WAY before it became vogue in these parts.
Hatari! If your remotely jone'sing for a safari fix, this 1962, John Wayne classic is a must. Phenomenal footage, attractive gals and copious amounts of booze consumed throughout the film. A real rainy day, afternoon treat.
My favorite line
